The Jr. Chefs program is Kidinary's core weekly class for kids ages 8 to 13 — the sweet spot where kids are ready to take on real culinary challenges and actually cook from scratch.
Jr. Chefs sessions go well beyond following a recipe. Kids develop real kitchen technique — knife safety, sautéing, baking, grating, measuring, and more — alongside nutrition education and the kind of kitchen confidence that lasts a lifetime. Every class is hands-on, structured, and designed to keep this age group genuinely engaged.
Classes are held at PCC/Sportsplex in Plainfield on Tuesday evenings (6:30–7:30pm), open to all families, with additional sessions at partner schools including Grande Park Elementary and Wallin Oaks Elementary. All ingredients, kid-safe equipment, and supplies are provided.
Our lead chef holds a Master's degree in Pediatric Nutrition, so every dish is built around real food skills and real nutritional value. Check the schedule to see current Jr. Chefs availability and register today. Also see our Mini Chefs (ages 4–8) and Tween Chefs (ages 11–15) programs.

The Jr. Chefs program is for kids ages 8 to 13. This is Kidinary's most popular weekly class — structured for kids who are ready to work with real ingredients, real techniques, and real kitchen tools. If your child is younger, check out Mini Chefs (ages 4–8). For older or more advanced kids, explore our Tween Chefs (ages 11–15) program.

Our primary public location is PCC/Sportsplex in Plainfield, where Tuesday evening sessions run from 6:30–7:30pm CDT and are open to all families. Jr. Chefs is built around real culinary skill development. Over the course of a semester, kids practice knife safety, sautéing, baking, measuring, grating, and cooking from scratch. Beyond technique, each class incorporates nutrition education and life skills like following instructions, working as a team, and building kitchen confidence. Our lead chef holds a Master's degree in Pediatric Nutrition — so every dish is as intentional as it is delicious.
Register online through our Sawyer booking calendar. Browse current Jr. Chefs sessions by location and date, and sign up in minutes.
